"Thick As Three Short Planks"

Jersey General Hospital to be split over two sites

No New Hospital for Jersey - Just sawdust and puke

If approved by the States the hospital will be split between
the General Hospital site and Overdale

Jersey's hospital will be spread over two sites under plans released by the treasury department.

Residents living near the proposed two sites received letters outlining the plans.
These will see the existing general hospital in the centre of St Helier redeveloped and the Overdale Hospital at Westmount expanded.
Full details of the hospital plans are due to be released after the budget statement on Tuesday.
Assistant Treasury Minister Deputy Eddie Noel said the design was being explained to the neighbours before it was made public.

He said: "The meeting is purely about being a good neighbour and advising people who will be in the vicinity of what we are planning to do."
In 2012 the States of Jersey voted to overhaul the health system including a new hospital.
Deputy Kristina Moore looked into the proposals as part of her work as head of the health scrutiny panel and said the two hospital plan was a "good solution".

"We have been taking a great interest in this issue over the past year or so and think the proposals due to be announced tomorrow are definitely a step in the right direction and an example of good working between departments."

They spend a fortune and a year coming up with what can only be described as "NO CHANGE" and they have the cheek to call it "GOOD WORKING BETWEEN DEPARTMENTS" ????????????

  4. The jep is quoting the hospital waiting times as if they have fallen to reasonable levels. There is no proof offered, and besides they want new hospital buildings.

The lady forgot to mention a) the time it takes to actually get to see a consultant after a visit to your GP. b) Many knee or hip type operations still take longer than a year.

So if you are unable to work, tough luck. Three weeks if you pay the hospitals consultant extortionate private rate. Go to France, up to half the price and the highest ranking medical success rate in Europe for cancer treatment and thats fact.

The general hospital is a disgrace, in an international finance centre especially for those who cannot afford to pay.

If Pryke had any decency, she would ask the taxman to divulge ( no names ) what the taxable earnings were for consultants. Then deduct the public sector part to see how much they are making in what is supposed to be a public first hospital.

    Then she should resign.
