"Bonfire Night The Jersey Way?" LOL

Charity calls for a ban on bonfires

A hedgehog rescue charity in Jersey is backing calls for bonfires to banned on November 5th.

It has already happened at Thatcham in Berkshire where the organiser of one display bowed to pressure from residents worried about potential harm to hedgehogs.

The Guy Fawkes firework display will go ahead without the bonfire.

Dru Burdon, who runs the Jersey Hedgehog Group told ITV News Channel TV, it would be great if the same could happen in the island.

She says November is the busiest time of year at the centre in St. Lawrence.

Hedgehogs can nest in bonfires set up too far in advance of the big night and we all need to be aware of the dangers.

Below is the link to last years laughing stock.

  1. FairPlay to Dru Burdon... These spiney little creatures have more spines than the spineless bastards we elect. The States members that think for all the corruption and wrong doers are excluded.

With the Rondel's and the like maybe they should be put on the fire...

To do us all a favour....

  2. Plenty of smoke and stinking fumes emanate from her bonfires, so perhaps she should start by setting an example.
