CHIEF Minister Ian Gorst will take Jersey’s image-building campaign to the top of British politics when he attends the Conservative Party conference next week.
Senator Gorst, who recently met Prime Minister David Cameron at 10 Downing Street to offer assurances on the integrity of the Island’s finance industry, will continue the initiative when the government party meets in Manchester from Sunday.
Guernsey’s Deputy Chief Minister, Jonathon Le Tocq, will join Senator Gorst and Treasury Minister Philip Ozouf at the conference, where the Channel Islands will hold joint meetings to strengthen ties and build understanding with the UK.
Senator Gorst said that Mr Cameron’s recent remarks that Jersey and other Crown Dependencies were not tax havens left the Channel Islands in a positive position ahead of the conference.
