Warmest, sunniest and driest summer
IT began with warnings that we could be in for a run of ten poor summers…
But the holiday season turned out to be the warmest for seven years, the sunniest since 1996 and the driest since 1989.
Back in June, leading scientists and climatologists met to discuss major changes to Atlantic weather patterns and concluded that the miserable summers of recent years could last for the best part of a decade.
But no sooner had the news hit the headlines than the rain clouds disappeared, the sun broke through and the temperatures began to climb.
Provisional figures released by the Met Office show that Jersey has enjoyed its warmest summer for seven years, the sunniest for 17 years and the driest for 24 years..
