"Child Abuse Inquiry Debate Put Off Again!"

Historical abuse inquiry delayed until next mont

Chief Minister 2 - Ian Gorst

A DEBATE on what exactly a committee of inquiry into historical abuse in Jersey care homes will focus on has been delayed with the agreement of everyone involved, the Chief Minister has said.
The States had been due to debate the proposals from the Council of Ministers and various amendments lodged to them at this week’s sitting.
However, at a meeting last week it was agreed that the debate should be pushed back to next month March to ensure that the plans are as robust as possible and meet the needs of all those concerned.
Commenting on the decision, which is the latest in a series of delays since the States first agreed to set up the committee of inquiry by approving a proposition from Senator Francis Le Gresley in March 2011, Chief Minister Ian Gorst said it was a sensitive area that had to be addressed correctly.

  1. As they postpone this, new revelations from Savile, Elm, Yewtree and other cover-ups will have an impact on Jersey.
