A MAN who impersonated his identical twin brother to fraudulently claim benefits was caught out because he had different tattoos and scars.

The 26-year-old had attempted to trick authorities into thinking he was his identical twin brother who was in Thailand.

But in court on Wednesday, the Jersey-born defendant, of Beaumont, St Peter, admitted knowingly making a false statement for the purpose of obtaining benefit on 29 March at the Social Security department in La Motte Street.

The case was adjourned and he was advised to seek legal advice before the next hearing.
