GENEROUS Islanders have leapt to the rescue of Alfie, the little boxer puppy abandoned and left to die by his owners, who is now being nursed back to health.

St Saviour Constable Sadie Rennard says that she has been inundated with donations and offers to adopt the brave four-month old puppy who has touched Islanders’ hearts.

One family pledged £400 to help cover food and vet costs to fix Alfie’s deformed leg, and a little boy offered up his pocket money after being touched by the dog’s story.

Mrs Rennard, who has arranged for Alfie’s care, and who has led the fund-raising efforts, also said that Waitrose had offered to supply food for him. ‘Alfie is doing very well, extremely well,’ she said.

Anyone who wants to contribute to Alfie’s bills should email Mrs Rennard at sadierennard@yahoo.co.uk, or can leave a donation at the Pet’s Cabin.
