"Senator Francis Le Gresley - A Sheep In Wolf's Clothing"

People who won’t pay court fines lose benefits

YOUNG people who choose jail over paying court fines have their benefits stopped while in custody, says the Social Security Minister.

People who won’t pay court fines lose benefits
Le Gresley turns Oligarchy
Senator Francis Le Gresley was responding to reports that four people in the last month have refused to pay their court fines and elected to carry out the default sentence, which means they spend time behind bars instead.

Comments from the defendants, who were on benefits, made to the judges included that they would rather spend the money on themselves.

However, Senator Le Gresley wanted to stress that their income support benefits were stopped as soon as they went to jail.

"Another Fraud Just Like Slyman Crowcroft"

I had to laugh when I saw this nonsense a few days ago, it reminded me of Cyril in court.

Just up before Cyril was a young lad, he had been hauled before the 'alleged' court
for not paying his £45 fine.

Harris (the pretend judge) told him he must pay it, fair play to the lad standing his ground telling Harris he wasn't going to pay it. Harris tried a few more times to talk the lad round but he wasn't having any of it, again standing his ground and opting for a day in prison, and which is his right.

What happened next was unprecedented.

Harris gave the lad "ONE YEAR" to pay the fine!!!

I had never heard such crap in all my life
(apart from when lawyers speak) or (policemen give evidence)
One Year? Why?

The answer was this.
Harris then went on to state that the lad had to pay his fine as he would not be going to jail,
the lad said "I am still not paying it"
Harris said "You won't have a choice, it will come out of your social security money, we are CHANGING THE LAW".

The lad got up, started marching out of court and said to Harris
"THIS IS A FUCKING JOKE"
Funnily enough,
that was the only true statement I heard in the courtroom that day :)

 Francis Le Gresley

I first came across Francis Le Gresley at the Grouville hustings, he was running for Stuart's seat as Senator. He was running on the platform of honesty and integrity, and all the good work he had done with the Citizens Advice Bureau in Jersey, helping the common man to get some justice against a biased and profoundly corrupt and lawless government which had no interest in the island's people.

He told us a little story about when he was an honorary policeman, he had seen one of his colleagues (as had others) down nearly a bottle of whiskey and drive off home. He then proudly went on to explain that the very next day he resigned as an honorary cop, stating the reason for this was his colleague drink driving, and that he would not be a party to corruption like that. He got a huge ovation from the halfwits in the audience who sat there flapping their mitts like seals in reverence of his actions....I however, sat there in awe and wonderment trying too work out why he did not arrest his drunken colleague instead of turning a blind eye, keeping his mouth shut, and keeping his head down? But that's just me....

I got to know Francis a little after that and found him to be a pleasant enough guy. But after the the Grouville hustings I had grave doubts that he could retain his own mind without the Oligarchy pushing him in directions that he didn't want to go. He later brought a proposition to the house to rekindle the Jersey Child Abuse Committee of Inquiry which was successful. This I believe was the point where the Oligarchy took control of him, so dismayed they must have been with their boy that there was a chance now of the corruption and cover up being exposed.

Since that successful proposition we have heard little or nothing from the Senator, until now!

He now appears with the above proposition, unlawfully screwing the poor out of the little benefits they get, they have a right not to pay a fine, to choose jail as an option. There has been a worry for the Oligarchy that the youngsters are rebelling, not paying their fraudulent fines. See link below

So, what do the corrupt Jersey Muppet's do? They decide to change the law so they can recoup the kids social money, and save themselves a fortune by not having to pay to jail these youngsters.

I think it very sad that people like Francis end up turning, or being turned to the dark side. All the good work he did at the CAB helping the little guy has now been undone. He resorts to the preferred tactics of the rest of the Oligarchies, obedience and bullying.

Good luck changing this err 'law' Francis, I wonder what you and your thugs are going to do about Article 30 :)

  4. So if someone is flat sharing and have to chip in their weekly/monthly contribution towards the rent/food etc.. and then pay a fine but cannot pay their rent that is better than allowing them to take their punishment by losing their freedom for a day or whatever. It could in some cases mean someone could end up homeless!!

  5. The People With The Power prefer to have him in the States than Stuart he replaced.
    I despair.

  7. Any person who goes to prison loses their benefits, always have done, always will do.
Are they trying to take credit for something we have always known!!!!

  8. Interesting to see how strong Le Gresley's support remains for a robust CoI and the abuse survivors.

If he supports the expected Williamson watered down version he should truly be ashamed and proof that he HAS drunk from the poisoned chalice.

  9. If the TOR for the COI are not as Verita recommended, I hope Carrie, the JCLA, and ALL the abuse survivors tell spineless Gorst & corrupt Bailhache to ram the whole lot right up their arses.

    Tell these pigs, "NO MORE".

  10. Actually Ian, I believe this is a non-news story, the law already says that no one is entitled to benefit whilst in prison.

  11. That was the first thing to hit me, so why did Harris say they were changing the law? Why give the guy a year to pay?

And we must remember that most people are thrown in jail for committing NO CRIME whatsoever!

  12. All they are doing here is changing the law to stop the young ones from choosing jail over paying a fine
