"Another States Halfwit - John Young - Putting Money Before Safety"

UK fuel fire laws ‘should not restrict La Collette’

There should be flexibility in use of land at La Collette, says Deputy Young

LAND at the La Collette reclamation site should be freed up for general use instead of being restricted by UK rules introduced after the major 2005 Buncefield fuel depot fire, says the head of the Environment Scrutiny panel.

Deputy John Young says that restrictions on the large area of land at the reclamation site in the wake of the 2005 Buncefield oil storage terminal fire need to be closely investigated.

Because of the proximity of the fuel farm, there are restrictions on buildings in the area, based on the proportion of time that they need people within them.

But Deputy Young says that because space is at such a premium in Jersey, there has to be more flexibility.

  2. I cant believe (well I can actually!) that someone would come up with this especially after the fire at Gas place. I beggars belief how dumb someone can be, and a politician as well. I can't think of a word good enough to sum this idiot up. Oh, I know, greedy. I wonder who is feathering his nest.
