FEE-PAYING schools are safe from States funding cuts for the next four years.

Parents faced months of worry after former Education Minister James Reed announced plans in late 2010 to cut the annual subsidies paid to fee-paying schools from £9.8m to £5.5m.

The public backlash to the plans proved overwhelming and Deputy Reed failed in his bid to be re-elected to the position by States Members following last year’s election.

Deputy Pat Ryan, the current Education Minister, has now ruled out any review of grant cuts until at least 2016.
