Survey over cost of visits to doctor

CONCERN about the high cost of doctors’ fees has prompted an investigation by the Jersey Consumer Council.

Over 40,000 households are to receive a questionnaire asking what Islanders think about the cost of primary healthcare in Jersey.

Rose Colley, the chairwoman of the Jersey Consumer Council, said that Islanders had raised concerns with the organisation over GP and dental bills.

The council is now in the process of establishing a working group to explore the issues around primary healthcare, which was also highlighted in the Health white paper released last month.

  1. Apart from the hefty charges, Doctors receive £19 for each letter sent on behalf of any patient, this money is paid to them from the Health Insurance Fund, it amounts to approx. £9 million a year, if this money was stopped, they would only raise their charges, you cannot win!!!!
