"Word Association Lessons - REPORT equals REDACT"

Top doctors want reports on patient safety released

Top doctors want reports on patient safety released

JERSEY’S most senior hospital doctors have written to the JEP to reassure Islanders that the Hospital is safe and have called for the release of the Aitkenhead reports on patient safety.

On the same day that Health Minister Anne Pryke has defended her department in a strongly worded letter to the JEP, the 12-strong senior clinical body – made up of clinical directors, medical directors and the Hospital’s senior manager – say that the reports must be published to avoid ‘misreporting and misrepresentation of the facts’.

It is understood that legal wrangling over the wording of the Health and Safety Law is holding up the release of the reports.

The letters come as the Health department prepares to release redacted versions of the patient safety reports, which are thought to criticise safety standards and raise concerns over appraisals of top clinical staff.

  1. My 2nd post found your site by accident, when I figure out how to use a nick name that won't identify me directly I'll do it meantime I'm posting as shitfaced, let me know if it offends and I'll change it ( you that is Ian, not any cunt else )

I could write a book about hospital cover ups, negligence and a complete lack of candour and transparency. I've suffered significantly in this regard particularly locally as I'm a chronically ill hospital out patient.

Anyone hear of Robbies Law and the recent attempt to change the law on hospital candour defeated recently in the house of cards ( sorry Lords )full story here - http://www.avma.org.uk/pages/legal_duty_of_candour_-_robbies_law.html

Abbreviated version it is not unlawful to refrain from telling the father of a child who has died in hospital how he died, furthermore it is not unlawful to cover up or even lie about the nature of his death. With this in mind is it surprising that doctors and hospitals don't tell the truth, my experience has been that they routinely lie, deny access to records, deny life saving treatment if you piss them off ( guilty m'lud )and are generally the complete opposite of what you would expect them to be.

More at some later point there is much to disclose, shame your sister publication the state owned/controlled Stalingrad Express refrained from publishing my account see here on their patient secrecy report story - The whole hospital approach to any issue that carries reputational damage potential is to hide it. I complained about the appalling standard of care I’d received from my consultant, things that include both myself and my wife being shouted at, a pre emptive live transplant from a relative being denied leading to 2 years of agonising dialysis. Refusing to relocate me to a UK consultant even after sending a registered letter to the hospital CEO requesting it and explaining the woeful neglect I’d suffered.

Only after I contacted the JEP who in turn contacted health was any action finally taken during which time I remained without a consultant and completely unmonitored for 5 months shortly after a kidney transplant.See the whole debacle here –
