Police renew appeal for missing woman
Police are renewing their appeal for a woman who has been missing for nearly a month.
Margarida Nascimento de Ascensao, 31, was last seen around 9pm on Friday 16 December at her home in St Saviours Road, St Helier.
Margarida, who is Portugese, has not been in contact with anyone since.
Although police have received numerous calls from members of the public, none of the sightings have been confirmed absolutely.
A team of dedicated officers has been working on the case since December and have spent time talking to members of the Portuguese community, conducting house to house enquiries and investigating many possible sightings.
Honorary Police from all 12 of Jersey's parishes searched beaches, bays and headlands across the island last week.
Inspector Dave Burmingham said: "We are not only appealing to the public but we are appealing directly to Magarida. Please let us know you are safe, you are not in any trouble, and if you don’t want people to know where you are that is fine. We just want to know you are ok."
Margarida, who is originally from Madeira, is described as around 5’2” (155cm) with a medium to stocky build, with very long hair that is generally tied in a ponytail, dark brown eyes and shoulder-length black hair.
She was last seen wearing a black coat, blue jeans and black trainers.
Anyone who may have any information about Margarida’s whereabouts, or may have seen a woman answering her description, is asked to contact States of Jersey Police on 612612.
