JERSEY’s first motorised lifeboat, the Howard D, could take part in the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant next year if an application for the historic vessel to be in the event is accepted.

This special celebration marking the Queen’s 60-year reign is due to take place on Sunday, 2 June.
The plans will involve up to 1,000 boats from across Britain, the Commonwealth and other countries lining up on the River Thames behind the Royal Barge in which the Queen will lead the flotilla in the pageant.
The application for the Howard D to take part was made by Jersey Heritage Trust’s head of community learning Doug Ford on behalf of the trust and the Friends of the Maritime Museum.
