The building in St Ouen’s Bay – better known as the White House – was painted green in January as part of the National Trust for Jersey’s efforts to promote environmental sustainability.
The National Trust had always planned to restore the landmark cottage to white at the end of this year. Many people were opposed to the campaign, with one Islander taking their anger a step further by vandalising the building.
In May, someone defaced the house by writing ‘clean me!’ in white paint and drew smiley faces on the windows.
