SECURITY at the Millennium Town Park is to be increased after residents
complained about rowdy teenagers making their lives ‘unbearable’.

Louisa Jones, who lives opposite the park, wrote an open letter to St Helier Constable Simon Crowcroft that the area has become a ‘mecca for anti-social teenagers’.
Mrs Jones said young people were gathering nightly in the park and staying for hours – sometimes as late as 4 am.

A meeting of police, St Helier parish officials and representatives from Transport and Technical Services held this week agreed to implement tougher security at the park.
The new measures include hiring private security officers to patrol the park at night, wardens patrolling the area, and locking up facilities from 5 pm. The introduction of brighter street lighting and CCTV is also being considered.

  1. There's always one moaning minnie... town is noisy, get over it or move !!
Or maybe it's just another excuse for the police to victimise youngsters (one of their favourite pastimes)???

  2. I live in Tunnell St. as Iam nearer the St. Saviours Rd. end I have suffered no noise so far, however most of the demands for "this and that" come from people who do live anywhere near the park.
A prime example of this is Deputy Hilton, who said that there was need for any fencing around the park, if it was not for the fact that the authorities were concerned that a child may run from the park and be hit by a car, then idiots like her ,and a few others would have got their way.
Truth is the fence is not high enough.
The only reason that Howard Davis Park is as nice as it is, is because it is walled and gated, otherwise it would be wrecked.
We have world-class vandals in Jersey, and some parents are just irresponsible allowing there children out so late in the evening.
Personally, I, and others in this area, wish to "F**K it was still a car park.
