Deputy wants review of States decision making

A Jersey Deputy wants the Privileges and Procedures Committee to review the way in which States Members are included in decision making.

Last week panels, committees and Assistant Ministers were appointed, still leaving many States Members without dedicated positions.

Deputy Gerard Baudains says government must be made more inclusive, or the result will be further division in the Chamber.

He said: "There's still a problem in the house that's not going to go away because you have ten Ministers making decisions and you have 41 other Members who most of the time don't know what's going on.

"That is one of the reasons the Assembly questions and propositions the house, which is delaying us from getting on with perhaps more important business, because they're not included."

  1. Well if the States were to cut back on its members then there would be fewer of them in the dark ...

  2. Quite agree, get rid of the 10 unnelected Constables and that will be less of them still in the dark
