"States Deputy Asks Pigs To Fly!!!"

Deputy calls for a culture of honesty

Daniel Wimberley has brought a fantastic proposition that is just doomed to failure, he wants States of Jersey members to STOP LYING!

Can you imaging Ian Le Marquand's face when he hears this?

We would never hear from Le Marquand again if this proposition was passed.

MINISTERS must be stopped from routinely misleading the States before Islanders lose any more faith in the government, says Deputy Daniel Wimberley.

In his last proposition before standing down from the House next month, the St Mary Member argues that spin, misleading comments and stonewalling are destroying constructive debate.
‘I have sat in the States for three years now and I have been shocked at the number of times the Assembly has been misled by ministers, often on matters of the highest importance, sometimes on matters one could say were less important,’ says Deputy Wimberley.

  1. If Wimberely knows of members giving "misleading comments" in the States chamber it is his duty to report it accordingly.

The Code of Conduct for Ministers clearly states:

"It is of paramount importance that Ministers give accurate and truthful information to the States, correcting any inadvertent error at the earliest opportunity. Ministers who knowingly mislead the States will be expected to offer their resignation to the Chief Minister."

  2. I couldn't agree more Anon, and whilst he still has time to do it....
