A MAN who claimed that the Polish mafia had tracked him down in Jersey and forced him to import drugs was yesterday jailed for heroin smuggling.

The Superior Number of the Royal Court, which is convened for the most serious cases, sentenced Marcin Stefanek to seven years behind bars.
The Deputy Bailiff. William Bailhache, told the 32-year-old defendant that threats were no excuse and he could expect no reduction in his prison term because of them.
Stefanek, a Polish national from Warsaw who had an interpreter in court, was arrested on 24 March after a police surveillance operation.
