Driver escapes after tree crushes car
A driver has had a lucky escape after a huge tree fell on her car.
The woman was driving along St John's main road just after 1pm yesterday when the wind apparently blew over a large Oak tree.
It fell across the road, but the nearby house acted as a prop and prevented the car taking the full force of the tree.
One of the branches crushed the car's roof and smashed the windscreen. The woman, who has not been named, was shocked but did not need hospital treatment.
The road was closed for about two hours while the tree was cut up.
