"11 Return Unopposed To Wreak More Havoc!"

69 candidates step forward

SIXTY-NINE candidates were put forward for the States at parish halls around the Island on Wednesday nght.
The 2011 elections are now fully under way, and in just over a month Islanders will have to pick from 61 candidates for 26 Deputies’ seats, and from eight candidates for four Constables’.
At nomination meetings in all 12 parishes, 11 States Members were returned unopposed for a further three-year term – three Deputies and eight Constables.
The move to a single election day – Wednesday 19 October – adds a new dimension to the 2011 election with the promise of a higher turnout around the Island. And the growing dissatisfaction with the inhabitants of the States Chamber could also add an extra ingredient – almost 80% of respondents to a major JEP survey this year were unsatisfied with the States and felt that they had failed to grapple with major issues like immigration and development.

  1. Do constables get paid the 40k odd that states members get paid? Such a shame that there are so many uncontested people, if the constables do get paid then maybe I will stand whe I retire as I have no private pension yet!!!!!

  2. I'm not sure if they get paid, but they get lots of perks like being driven home by the police after crashing their cars, and all without charges to follow.

Some even get to write to judges, and keep their child-raping friends out of prison!

If your a drunk driver, or your mates a raping paedophile, it could be just the ticket!!!

  3. "Brian Downs (55) a former taxi driver admitted indecent assault and procuring in a act of gross indecency on a teenage girl between 24th November 1988 and 23rd November 1991."

EVEN THE CHARGES ARE COVERED UP BULLSHIT. THE VICTIM WAS RAPED REPEATEDLY FROM THE AGE OF 15 TO THE AGE OF 22.

A COUPLE OF MONTHS BEFORE SHE WAS 16 SHE HAD AN ABORTION IN ENGLAND!!!

    INDECENT ASSAULT....MY ARSE....

  4. God help us in St. Lawrence!

The best that could be said is that our Deputies are no worse than before but we have to suffer another 3 years of the utterly useless accountant Eddie Noel.

Le Fondre may start to do something one step up from sweet FA now that he has been pushed aside, but somehow I doubt it.

The worst scenario would be for James Le Feuvre (son of the barmy Iris) to unseat Deidre Mezbourian who often votes with the progressives.

If we carry on like this we might turn into another Trinity or St. Johns.
    Help!

  5. You dont need to tell me, its been so flaming obvious over the years that its who you know, not what you have done that counts here.

Its totally off subject but there is a slight similarity in how the Jersey way works. Did you notice in the JEP website about why the inner road was blocked? They made it clear is was because of a driver with a uk reg, if it had been a jersey reg i doubt very much they would have mentioned that. Flaming JEP, not worth a good wipe on the backside.

  6. That is extremely shocking, I am sick of our cover up society, sick to the frigging death of it. Still, we must protect our image eh!!

I would like to see all of this stuff brought out into the open once and for all, sod the reputation. Its very doubtable that we are the worst in the world for covering this stuff up but if or powers that be want to look after our reputation then its time to say enough is enough, we have convicted the bstards and we will come down hard on them in the future. That is what a reputation is all about, not hiding stuff in the hope it wont be discovered.
