"Man Released Uncharged In Lega Verse Case"

The 27-year-old man who was arrested over the weekend in connection with the suspicious death of Latvian woman Liga Verse has been released by police without charge.

Liga (24) was found dead in a flat in the Bordage in Guernsey at the weekend. She had lived in the island for a number of years.

Forensic officers have continued to scour the area for clues to the unexplained death.

A Home Office pathologist has travelled to Guernsey to carry out a post-mortem on the body.

Police say her body was found at 8.30pm on Saturday, and have appealed for information from the public. They want to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in that area between Thursday morning and Saturday evening.

Church service for mother

A church service has been arranged to remember 24-year-old Liga Verse who's body was found in a St Peter Port flat at the weekend.

Police investigating say its still not clear how the young Latvian mother died.

The service is being held at the Town Church, at 6.30pm Sunday evening.

Organisers say everyone is welcome, and they are also hoping to raise money to help pay for the repatriation of Liga's body.

  1. Are you sure that Liga would want to go back to Latvia as she loved the Island so much. She never spoke about her family. Also who is caring for her baby. We miss her in Manchester. R.I.P Liga

  2. Liga was a much loved part of our familey here in manchester. We are very shocked and deeply saddened by her untimely death. We wish we could be at her memorial on sunday and we hope that her son is safe. We are thinking of you Liga and wonder why ? Love you. Glen stace nancy crist auntie lou and dale.
