"Interesting - Legal or Lawful?"

New legal advice service cuts out the lawyers’ fees

A NEW free and easy-to-understand legal information service has been launched to enable Islanders to help themselves rather than pay high lawyers’ fees.

The Citizens Advice Bureau has teamed up with the States-run Jersey Legal Information Board, which has responsibility for providing Islanders with legal information, to create a website offering explanations of the law as it relates to many areas of Island life.

Not only are the hundreds of pages of information written in everyday rather than legal jargon, but they are also kept accurate and up-to-date by lawyers who have volunteered to help.

The legal information can be found at http://www.cab.org.je/.
