"Harper & Power Have Nothing To Defend - Except Jersey's Abused Children"

Lenny Harper defends his record

video

THE man at the heart of the historical child abuse inquiry says he has been smeared and discredited by people trying to target victims of care home abuse.
Lenny Harper, who was the senior investigating officer at the start of the investigation, defended his record at a Scrutiny hearing yesterday.
During the hearing, called to look into an auditors’ review of the spending on the £7.5m investigation, he gave evidence via a telephone link, saying that he and his boss had pleaded for a budget to work to, but kept being told they had a ‘blank cheque’.
That review criticised him for letting spending run completely out of control, and painted a picture of him and other officers living a celebrity lifestyle with hotel stays and expensive meals in top restaurants with the taxpayer picking up the tab.

  1. "if they could discredit me then they could discredit the victims"

And if they can try an intimidate supporters and local bloggers by sticking a camera in there face they will.

  3. How humiliating for Ben-no-Enquiree to have to write about the topic he is so bored with, only to learn that he knew less about it than anybody else in the room, and that it may be linked to the biggest Jersey scandal in modern decades. These JEP reporters need to learn how to google and to read online evidence, as posted on multiple blogs now.

WHY no interview of Lenny Harper? WHY was a policeman allowed to order BDO not to interview subject of their audit? These WHY questions should be the lifeblood of the professional journalist.

  4. Exactly what I was thinking, why have the Evening Post decided to use as there main picture X senator Syvret, and a few members of the public that might have the foresight to gleen information for themselves , rather than digest what is fed to them by the main stream media.
I think it would have been more important that a photo should have been taken off the committee members, and not when the meeting was over, as this shot so obviously was. Montford Tadier was on his way out ,and I believe Roy le Herrisier and Daniel Wimberly had already left.
The JEP photographer had been there for the duration.
    Pravda!
    We are watching.

  5. If I was Ben Queree I'd be worried about being labelled as a David Rose type journalist. Professionally speaking its the kiss of death. In professional journalism asking both sides for thier version of events is second nature. Then the real investigative jounalism, the research, begins in earnest. Queree is not I think a bad person but he has some hard choices to make about the direction he wants his career to go in. Given the overbearing editorial control I bet he'll move on. But only after the elections.

  9. PLEASE NOTE

JERSEY DOES NOT HAVE ANY ACCREDITED JOURNALISTS

WE ONLY HAVE NEWS "REPORTERS" WHO REPORT THE VERSION OF THE NEWS THEY ARE GIVEN BY SoJ

  10. You can also consider that to be "States Media," no different from the voice of Dear Leader in hard core dictatorships.
