"Tax Payers Money Squandered"

States consultants’ costs are revealed

Health was the biggest spender with Transport a close second

STATES departments have spent almost £7 million on consultants’ reports in the last five years, the JEP can reveal.
The Treasury department has released the figures in response to questions from the JEP under the Code of Practice on Public Access to Official Information. The figures show that there were a total of 210 reports commissioned and received over the period.
They also show that the Health department was narrowly the biggest spender, with 11 reports at a total of £1.35m compared with the 82 reports commissioned by the Transport department over the same period, at a total cost of £1.32m.
