"Royal Knee's Up! - But Not For The Plebs"
Royal knees-up at Government House
With this year seeing an explosion of Royal fever with the fairytale wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, tonight's garden party to celebrate the Queen's official birthday may prove more popular than ever.
Those heading to Government House for the champagne reception will be hoping that the weather stays sunny for the party which is open to all islanders.
Entertainment will include a 21-gun salute from the 1781 Jersey Militia in the grounds of Government House and drinks.
The party will be Andrew Ridgway's final appearance as Governor before he steps down.
Dress code for the bash is jacket and tie and it begins from 7pm. A large car park is available and sufficient for all guests' vehicles.
The evening will include:
•21 Gun Salute by the Island's 1781 Militia
•beating of retreat by the Band of the Island of Jersey
•sunset ceremony involving the Caledonian Pipe Band and Jersey Field Squadron
•music by La Ronde Concert Band
•the announcement of HM The Queen’s Birthday Honours awards to Islanders
