Jail for ‘Rambo knife’ attack
A hunting knife similar to that used in the attack
A 23-YEAR-OLD man stabbed his flatmate with a large ‘Rambo-style’ hunting knife because he suspected he was having a relationship with his ex-girlfriend.
The Royal Court heard that Paul Allan Slater attacked his victim as he lay on a sofa, plunging the knife through his duvet and into his foot as he tried to defend himself.
The blow cut through a tendon and led to the victim bleeding profusely and leaving a trail of blood from his flat in Gloucester Street to the Accident and Emergency department at the Hospital.
Liverpool-born Slater, who came to Jersey last year, admitted committing a grave and criminal assault on his flatmate on 10 December last year at a flat in Gloucester Street and obstructing a police officer on 20 November at the Weighbridge.
Yesterday the Superior Number of the Royal Court – which convenes to hear the most serious cases – sentenced Slater to three years in jail and ordered that the knife be destroyed.
