"Le Sewer Will Defend Cohen - But Not Syvret"

Jersey's Chief Minister spoke out against anti-Semitic comments and a death threat made to planning minister, Senator Freddie Cohen.
In a statement in the States on Tuesday Senator Terry le Sueur condemned the people making the comments.
He said it was a small number of Jersey residents who had made comments about Senator Cohen's Jewish faith.
Senator Le Sueur spoke about the messages of tolerance expressed during the recent Liberation Day celebrations.

Death threat
The Chief Minister said he wanted to condemn people who were "misusing their freedom of speech".
He said: "Even to the extent of a death threat to criticise the actions of the minister for planning and environment.
"Not on planning grounds, which they are entitled to do but purely on the basis that he is of the Jewish faith."
Senator Le Sueur said that having to make the statement saddened him.
"As Chief Minister I am not prepared to stand by and ignore manifestations of religious or racial prejudice.
"We have a moral duty to pursue the principle of freedom for which the second world war was fought and challenge immoral and abhorrent activities."
Another States member, Deputy Bob Hill, said this was only the tip of the iceberg and that far more discrimination was taking place in Jersey.
Senator Le Sueur said it was incumbent on all members of society to stop it happening.

  3. "Senator Le Sueur spoke about the messages of tolerance."

Jersey is known worldwide for it's tolerance of child abuse and abusers or tolerance of corruption.

  4. 1. Jewish is a religion not a race so it is not racism.

    2. if it was against the law to deride a religion the 60% of the world would be arrested.

    3. 20.000,000 Russians died in WWII they are not winging.

    4. Again if saying I'll kill you was against the law 60% of the world would be in jail.

5 Is it right or justified what people are saying and what has this guy done to upset some people who I imagine value the jersey they know.

I don't dislike any religion!!! I dislike them All!!! for they all can't be right ergo they all must be wrong. and last but not least killing or threatening to kill someone I would say is morally wrong and Stuart Syvret received no defense or support from within the states assembly which says a lot about the moral compass of those in power.

  5. Gutless Anon, you're just trying to justify hatred.

    1) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racism : "Alternatively, racism is the practice of certain group/s of people being treated differently"

  6. Gutless Anon, you're just trying to justify hatred.

No I do not support death threats as is made plain in my post.

I think it a cheek to say gutless Anon when you are also a gutless Anon.

This anon is a victim of some of the worst sexual abuse one could imagine.

I am qualified to hate my friend and entitled to hate the animal who abuse me and so many others.

I don't like regions, any of them and they are and have been instrumental in the hiding of abuses against thousands if not millions of children.

You can't come on here and call people gutless as you are causing the very thing you accuse me of.

I don't need to look hate crimes as I have had them actually carried out on me, so i know first hand.

You should do some history lessons and look at the world you live in, instead of going off half cocked.

I as the admin of this blog will tell you was instrumental in the changing of 800 years of statue law to allow untold amounts of people to take their abusers to court so don't gutless me, and keep your patronizing dear oh dears to yourself, you appear to need them.

  8. So Terry Le Sueur is saying that it is perfectly alright to threaten the life of a States Member if it is to do with States business.

"...death threat to criticise the actions of the minister for planning and environment.
"Not on planning grounds, which they are entitled to do..."

Ahh, so that is why Mr Perhcard remained in the States after telling Senator Syvret to kill himself.

The Beano is not the Rag
