"Islander's Give Their Damning Verdict On States Politicians"

We need this guy!

Spending cuts, austerity, higher taxes, inflation
MORE than three-quarters of Islanders believe the States has failed to protect ordinary people from the devastating effects of the recession, according to a major JEP survey.

Today, in the first part of our Recession and You series, we can reveal that many Islanders feel let down by Jersey’s elected politicians.

During the last six week, 753 Islanders have completed a JEP survey designed to create a picture of life as Jersey emerges from one of the worst recessions in living memory.
And 80 per cent of those who took part said that the States had done a ‘poor’ or ‘very poor’ job at protecting ordinary Islanders from the downturn.

  1. Nice to see O'Zoof attack the JEP ( ) - "The JEP is expected to be fair and balanced – this is neither."

"It is at best, a piece of badly balanced research and reporting, and at worst, a rhetorical anchor binding the minds of the community reader to the murk and hopelessness of an economic crisis that we are all fighting hard to leave behind us. "

Nice to see the "establishment" don't always play along nicely, haha.

This bit reminded me of the Bayleaf's infamous Lib Day speech "the REAL scandal..." :
"What really, truly makes it a glum read, is the spun facts, lack of meaningful comparisons, and perhaps most importantly from my perspective, the lack of any suggestions about what we can do to solve any of the issues."
