"Cohen Get's A Little Of The Syvret Treatment"

Death threats investigated

Senator Freddie Cohen has been the subject of death threats in recent days, which are currently under investigation by the police.

The revelation was made in Tuesday's States sitting.

Treasury Minister, Senator Philip Ozouf, told States members Senator Cohen had received numerous threatening phone calls recently in relation to some controversial planning decisions.

Senator Ozouf said: "Not everybody is going to agree with a Minister's decision. Some decisions were made by previous committees including me, and a planning panel.

"It's unacceptable that he should be targeted like this and he should be given the protection that is clearly now underway and I've certainly said on behalf of the council of ministers that we have full confidence in the planning minister, difficult job, but he's done a great deal in recent years and I hope he continues."

One of the most controversial decisions to have sparked controversy is the decision to allow development at Portelet.

Senator Ozouf accused the media of having shown photos that misrepresented the development, and urged the public to await its completion before making a final decision.

  1. I do not agree with the "death threats" part of it, but I think this man shoud resign, he has systematically destroyed this Island.

  2. Jersey has to move forward into the same century as the rest of the civilized world, Government, Media and the general public need to understand time won't stand still and a time will come along when all the filthy grubby secrets will come out, So all those plutocratic parasites in the civil service and media involved in Jersey's abuse cases and the cover-ups as well as the family members who know what their husband/wife brother sister or whomever has or had been involved with should start to make plans for the trials they will be involved with in the future.

  3. Raymac. Never mind him there are lot more who should resign for far more serious matters than the management of a land you dont really control...

  4. Join the club. Death threats are just another part of normal day life for survivors of institutional chil;d abuse who are brave enough to speak out, and the people who are brave enough to support us, ask Lenny Harper, ask Stuart Syvret.
