"15 Months Jail - But Will There Be Backlash???"

A JERSEY lawyer who accepted more than £1.1 million from his money launderer father and lied in a bid to keep assets from confiscation was jailed by the Royal Court yesterday.
In the first case of its kind in the Island, the Inferior Number of the Royal Court heard that Advocate Justin Peter Michel committed a ‘grave betrayal’ of his oath when he perverted the course of justice during the investigation into his father.
His father, Peter Michel, served four years in prison for a catalogue of offences following Jersey’s most complex money laundering investigation and had just under £10 million confiscated.
