Suspension of police chief ‘was justified’

By Diane Simon

Chief Minister Terry Le Sueur.
THE decision to suspend former police chief Graham Power was valid and justified, Chief Minister Terry Le Sueur told the States yesterday.

The Senator was answering questions about the independent report by employment law specialist Brian Napier QC into the manner of the suspension which found that procedural errors had been made when it took place.

The Chief Minister said: ‘I acknowledge that Mr Napier suggested that there could have been procedural errors during the suspension, but he also said there was no evidence of a conspiracy. The suspension has been shown to be totally valid and justified, with the Wiltshire Report providing proof of that.’

  1. Didn't Mr. Napier point out the procedural errors and those responsible?

No Mr. Le Sueur the suspension has not been shown to be totally valid and justified quite the oppositite. Could Mr. Le Sueur fully explain those facts.

All disciplinary proceeding were abandoned were they not now why would that be Mr. Le Sueur?

  3. Its hindsight though, the stupid fact that many people forget to admit is that at the time it was an ilegal suspension.

Imagine being at your own place of work and people were going behind your back to dismiss you and their only proof was written by someone who is or was going to take your place. It is so easy to slag of the whole suspension process because in hindsight they were apparently correct but it does nothing to take into view that it could have been wrong.

Isnt that what suspension procedures are meant to be about. Not fliping hindsight or yeah we got it right, thank god for that. Its a disgrace and anyone who doesnot understand that has simply missed the point.
